Examiners' Choice 2010
In 2010 the Examiners’ Choice is Ben Lovell from Hellyer Campus in Burnie.
Ben’s portfolio was selected by the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) examiners from amongst all those submitted for assessment within the top strand (Stage 5) of the Art Production course, as undertaken by Year 11 and 12 students within all participating schools and colleges across Tasmania.
Through considering major pieces, as well as supporting visual resources and journals, the examination team have sought out a portfolio that demonstrates a student’s developing conceptual strength, and their technical skill, in the production of highly original work.
The examiners trust that this presentation of one full body of exemplary work, reflecting 150 hours of study throughout the year, will provide a fascinating insight for the general public, as well as a valuable educational indicator for art students in 2011.
The major component of Ben’s folio is a series of photomedia works titled ‘The city that never sleeps’.

Art Studio Practice Examiners' Choice 2010
In 2010 the Art Studio Practice Examiners’ Choice is Matt Bennett from Launceston College. Art Studio Practice TQA level 3C is a year 12 course offered to students on the successful completion of Art Production in year11.
Matt’s folio was selected by the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) examiners for ART STUDIO PRACTICE from all year 12 student portfolios submitted for assessment within participating schools and colleges across Tasmania.
The strength of conceptual development and outstanding technical skill evident in the production of a series of original art works was a major consideration in the 2010 examiners’ choice for Art Studio Practice. The support material and journals are integral to the body of work.
The conceptual content of Matt’s exhibition entitled “Bye Polar: The Need for Greed” incorporates multi layered stencil painting and mixed media exploring notions of political, religious, cultural, social and personal greed.
